Now this was the 2nd year I've been to the Clothes Show, and if you haven't been there yet - SHAME ON YOU! It is actually too good to miss. Not only is there an amazing catwalk show - that is much more than just a catwalk show, with incredible dancing, presenting and, most importantly, jaw-droppingly gorgeous male models ;) - the clothes on sale there are so much cheaper than they would be on the usual high-street, so much that you actually save money by going there because the £27 you paid for the ticket is less than the amount you save on clothes that you probably would've bought in town for full price otherwise! So you earn back the money you spent on the ticket by saving money on the clothes you buy :)
Me and two of my friends spend the train journey there being very productive (as you can see on the right), mostly taking silly, blurry pictures like that one, fangirling over one direction songs (sorry guys! I can't deny I'm a little bit of a directioner :P ) and spying on some really annoying girls we knew who were getting on our train, and finding the many ways that we looked suitably better than them (because you can't deny that you secretly do that too).
Of course when I went there, I had no idea that I would eventually write a blog about it, so I don't actually have any photos of what most of the venue looked like - jam packed with individual stalls, some full of all the typical high-street clothes we all love - just cheaper, and others stacked with eccentric vintage items, from 70's leather shorts and good-old granny jumpers, to one-of-a-kind pocket watches and beautiful embroided silk scarves.
The vintage section's my favourite bit, I must admit. As much as I'd want to take the opportunity of saving money on some of the exact items I would buy on the high-street anyway, the fact is, you can still actually buy these things on the high-street, whereas it would be a lot more difficult to find any of these vintage items down at your local shopping centre. There are some great little finds that you wouldn't come across anywhere else, and because it's vintage, no one else will have the same. It's authentic to you now, and when you wear it, you are guaranteed to be free of those terrifyingly awkward moments when you walk past someone in the street - or worse, someone you know - and you make that uncomfortable eye contact which lets them know that you instantly hate them for steeling your style, and the feeling is clearly mutual.
And the perks don't just stop at the clothes! The Clothes Show is about everything women want - including fashion, make-up, celebrities, and, of course, good-looking guys. Unfortunately (or fortunately - however you want to see it!), we gave in to the temptation of getting our picture taken with these beauties and risked looking like silly, giggle fangirls (which is, obviously, what we really are at heart). The problem was, I 'shotgunned' the middle. Now as you can see, that didn't turn out how I'd planned. I obviously wanted to be in between the 2 guys with my arms round both of them (who wouldn't want that?!), but once the first ditsy friend got confused in the kerfuffle of getting into place for the picture and wedged herself between me and the guy on the left, the other one then didn't want to be left out on the end, so she stole my position next to the guy on the right, so then, before I knew it, with the pressure of the whole thing, the pictures were taken and the next lot of gaggling girls were pushing their way in. But then, when the pictures came out, not only was I not next to any guys, I saw I was the shortest aswell! This has never happened before. I am never the shortest! Ok, so obviously not 'never' anymore. Lesson learned: Be careful what you wish for, or in this case, be careful what you shotgun!
I bought a pretty decent amount at the clothes show - being a bit skint afterwards, even if it's over Christmas, is surprisingly worth it. And anyway, why not buy your Christmas prezzies while you're there?! It'll save you money on them ;) Oh and the music act there is always good - on both times I've went, they've had a boyband from the X-Factor playing - this time it was 'Times Red' - you should remember them, they were the abercrombie&fitch models with amazing musical talent that stupid Louis Walsh didn't take through when he should've. Seriously, they're amazing. just click here to find out for yourself.
I'll do a post showing everything I bought at The Clothes Show soon, but for now, cheers for reading! *cough*iloveyou*cough* ;)
